the thesis
a person doing by hand what the system could have already handled is lost cycles — attention spent on a problem that could be well solved but has not been well defined yet. the gap is in the description, not in the people or the business.
nothing here is theoretical. every convention has to hold up against real priorities and hard due dates — program milestones, cert dates, ship dates, production deadlines. what does not hold up under that never becomes a convention.
a convention is an opinion that survived contact with production.
most opinions do not survive. that is not a disclaimer. that is the yield rate of doing this honestly.

a practice that only publishes its wins is a marketing department with better fonts. the failures are on this site too, and they are the part that is actually worth reading.
